About the Role

As Revenue Manager, you will be responsible for leading the revenue, pricing and distribution strategy for Stamford Plaza Melbourne.

Working closely with the Group Revenue Director, Deputy General Manager, Sales, Reservations, Front Office, Marketing and Finance teams, you will use market intelligence, demand trends and performance data to identify opportunities that maximise revenue, market share and profitability.

You will have ownership of pricing strategy, inventory management, forecasting, distribution performance, revenue systems and commercial analysis, ensuring the hotel is strategically positioned to outperform its competitive set and capitalise on market demand.

This is a highly visible role requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on execution. Success will come from your ability to anticipate market changes, identify emerging opportunities and translate complex data into clear commercial recommendations that influence business outcomes.

Key Areas of Focus

Revenue Strategy & Optimisation

  • Develop and execute revenue strategies that maximise ADR, RevPAR, market share and profitability
  • Optimise pricing, inventory, market segmentation and length-of-stay strategies in response to changing demand conditions
  • Manage restrictions, availability controls and room inventory to maximise revenue opportunities
  • Manage and optimise the hotel's Revenue Management System, reviewing system recommendations, forecasts and business rules to ensure alignment with market conditions and commercial strategy
  • Develop event-specific revenue strategies for major Melbourne demand periods, including pricing, inventory protection, minimum-stay controls and release strategies

Forecasting & Commercial Planning

  • Produce accurate short, medium and long-term forecasts and proactively communicate material changes in business outlook
  • Analyse booking pace, pickup, wash, segmentation and demand trends to identify risks and opportunities
  • Support annual budgeting, forecasting and reforecasting processes
  • Maintain visibility of forward group and corporate pipeline activity to identify compression, displacement and need periods
  • Translate performance data into actionable commercial recommendations for hotel leadership

Market Intelligence & Performance

  • Monitor competitor performance, pricing, market positioning, and demand trends
  • Analyse STR/CoStar performance, including MPI, ARI and RGI, to identify market-share opportunities and improve competitive positioning
  • Analyse citywide events, conferences, sporting events, and other demand generators
  • Maintain a strong understanding of Melbourne's evolving accommodation market and translate emerging trends into actionable revenue strategies

Distribution & Channel Management

  • Optimise performance across direct, OTA, GDS, corporate, wholesale, and other distribution channels
  • Evaluate channel performance based on revenue contribution, cost of acquisition and profitability, identifying opportunities to improve net revenue and channel mix
  • Monitor rate parity, discounting and promotional activity and proactively address rate-integrity and distribution issues
  • Partner with Marketing and E-commerce teams to identify opportunities to grow direct website contribution and reduce reliance on higher-cost distribution channels
  • Ensure rates, inventory and revenue strategies are accurately implemented across distribution platforms

Commercial Leadership

  • Lead regular hotel revenue strategy meetings, presenting performance, forecast changes, risks, opportunities and recommended commercial actions
  • Partner closely with Sales on corporate, group and negotiated business opportunities
  • Evaluate group opportunities through displacement analysis, total revenue contribution, and inventory optimisation, balancing base business against forecast transient demand
  • Provide strategic pricing guidance and commercial recommendations to Sales and hotel leadership
  • Present complex revenue information clearly and confidently to senior stakeholders
  • Challenge assumptions constructively and support commercial decision-making through data-driven analysis

What Success Looks Like

In this role, you'll be more than a pricing specialist.

You'll be a commercial leader who helps shape the strategic direction of the business through informed analysis, sound judgement and forward-thinking revenue strategies.

Your insights will directly influence occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, profitability, market share and business planning.

You'll have the autonomy to make recommendations, challenge assumptions and contribute to decisions that drive the hotel's long-term success.

As your experience and performance grow, there will be opportunities to support broader portfolio initiatives and progressively develop multi-property revenue management experience.

About You

You are analytical, commercially minded and passionate about using data to drive performance.

You enjoy identifying opportunities others miss, understanding market dynamics and developing strategies that deliver measurable results.

You are confident working with senior stakeholders, enjoy collaborating across departments and can translate complex information into clear commercial recommendations.

Ideally, you will bring:

  • Previous Revenue Management experience within a hotel environment
  • Strong understanding of pricing, forecasting, inventory, segmentation and demand management principles

  • Strong forecasting, budgeting, displacement analysis and commercial planning capability
  • Advanced Excel and analytical skills
  • Experience with hotel technology platforms including PMS, CRS, RMS, channel management, and business intelligence tools
  • Experience with Opera Cloud, IDeaS G3, SiteMinder, SynXis, Delphi, Lighthouse and CoStar/STR would be advantageous
