Stamford Plaza Melbourne are seeking a motivated and experienced Demi Chef to join our kitchen team on a full time basis.
This is an exciting opportunity for a chef who takes pride in producing high quality food, enjoys working in a fast paced hotel environment and is looking to further develop their culinary skills and experience.

About the role
As a Demi Chef, you will play an important role in the day to day operation of our kitchen, working closely with the Executive Chef, Sous Chefs, Chef de Parties and wider kitchen team.
You will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of high quality dishes across our hotel operations, including restaurants, banquets, and other food and beverage outlets.
This is a hands on role where you will be expected to maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, consistency and food safety while working efficiently during busy service periods.
You will have the opportunity to work across different sections of the kitchen, develop your technical skills and gain valuable experience across a diverse range of culinary operations.
Core Responsibilities
As a Demi Chef, you will play an important role in the day to day operation of the kitchen, delivering high quality food while supporting smooth and efficient service across restaurants, banquets, events and other hotel outlets.
- Prepare, cook and present food to a consistently high standard.
- Assist with the preparation and delivery of food for restaurants, banquets, conferences, weddings and other events.
- Work efficiently during busy service periods while maintaining quality and presentation standards.
- Follow recipes, portion controls and established food preparation and presentation standards.
- Maintain a strong understanding of cooking techniques and demonstrate attention to detail.
- Assist with stock rotation, storage and minimising food wastage.
- Ensure all food is prepared, stored and handled in accordance with food safety and hygiene requirements.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment at all times.
- Ensure kitchen equipment, utensils and work areas are maintained to the required standard.
- Communicate effectively with the Chef de Partie, Sous Chef and wider kitchen team during service.
- Assist with the training and development of junior kitchen team members where required.
- Support the kitchen team with the smooth delivery of daily operations and functions.
- Follow all company policies, procedures and food safety requirements.
- Contribute to a positive, respectful and collaborative kitchen culture.
About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Demi Chef or in a similar commercial kitchen environment.
- Relevant culinary qualifications and/or appropriate industry experience.
- Strong food preparation and cooking skills.
- A genuine passion for quality food and delivering excellent culinary experiences.
- Good knowledge of food safety, hygiene and kitchen procedures.
- The ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast paced environment.
- Strong organisation and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and pride in your work.
- The ability to work collaboratively as part of a diverse kitchen team.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop your skills.
- The confidence to take responsibility for your section and work independently when required.
- The ability to support and guide junior kitchen team members.
- Flexibility to work across a 7 day roster including weekends, evenings, and public holidays
