The Hotel

Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport is a 315-room hotel ideally located in Mascot, close to Sydney Domestic Airport and Sydney’s key commercial and aviation precincts.

The hotel offers 11 versatile conference and event spaces, including boardrooms, meeting rooms and the grand Mascot Ballroom, catering for everything from executive meetings and training sessions to conferences, exhibitions, corporate events and functions for more than 300 guests.

The hotel is also home to La Boca Bar & Grill, our signature Argentinian restaurant renowned for its authentic open-fire cooking experience, together with a range of guest facilities and 24-hour room service.

The Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, proactive and results-driven Business Development Executive – Corporate & MICE to join our Sales team at Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport.

This is an exciting opportunity for a sales professional who enjoys prospecting, opening doors, developing new accounts and converting opportunities into revenue.

The primary focus of the role will be to proactively identify, target and secure new business across the Corporate and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions) market segments, while developing existing accounts to increase accommodation room nights, meetings, conferences and event revenue.

The successful candidate will actively engage with businesses, event organisers, PCOs, associations and other potential clients to generate new opportunities and position Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport as a preferred destination for corporate accommodation, meetings, conferences and events.

Working closely with the Sales, Conference & Events, Revenue and operational teams, you will contribute directly to the hotel’s sales strategy, market share growth and revenue objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and secure new Corporate and MICE business.
  • Develop and manage a strong pipeline of sales opportunities.
  • Build relationships with key clients and decision-makers.
  • Conduct client meetings, presentations, site inspections and familiarisation visits.
  • Grow existing accounts and reactivate dormant and lapsed accounts.
  • Prepare proposals and quotations and follow up sales opportunities.
  • Assist with Corporate and MICE tenders and Requests for Proposal (RFPs).
  • Negotiate commercial terms to maximise revenue opportunities.
  • Develop business across the Sydney Airport precinct and wider Sydney market.
  • Attend networking events, trade shows, exhibitions, sales missions and client functions.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity and new business opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate CRM records, account profiles and sales activities.
  • Work closely with Sales, Conference & Events, Revenue and operational teams.
  • Achieve individual sales, Corporate room-night and MICE revenue targets.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in business development, hotel sales, corporate sales, MICE sales, account management or a related sales role, with hospitality, events, travel or tourism experience highly regarded.
  • A qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, Hospitality Management, Tourism, Event Management or a related discipline would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrated ability to generate leads, develop new business and convert opportunities into sales.
  • A proactive, commercially focused approach with confidence in developing client relationships.
  • Strong sales, negotiation, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good commercial awareness and understanding of revenue and profitability.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
  • Knowledge of the Corporate and/or MICE market would be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience using hotel sales, CRM or property management systems such as Delphi, Opera or Salesforce considered advantageous.
  • High standards of professional presentation and flexibility to attend client meetings and industry events as required.
  • A current NSW Driver Licence would be advantageous.
