We are seeking an energetic, motivated and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our Sales team and drive business growth and revenue across Stamford Plaza Adelaide and Stamford Grand Adelaide.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced sales professional who thrives on building strong client relationships, identifying new business opportunities and developing strategic partnerships that deliver measurable commercial results.
You will be responsible for actively growing our corporate, government, conference, events, group, accommodation and leisure markets, while strengthening relationships with key existing clients and identifying opportunities to increase revenue across both hotels.

About the role
Reporting to the Area Director of Sales, you will play a key role in developing and executing business development strategies that drive revenue and market share across Stamford Plaza Adelaide and Stamford Grand Adelaide.
You will take ownership of identifying and securing new business opportunities while strategically managing and growing existing client relationships.
Working across corporate accommodation, government, meetings and events, conferences, group accommodation, food and beverage and leisure markets, you will develop targeted sales strategies, build a strong business pipeline and convert opportunities into long-term commercial partnerships.
You will be highly visible in the market, conducting sales calls, client meetings, networking activities, presentations and hotel site inspections. You will also represent Stamford Hotels and Resorts at industry events and actively develop relationships with key decision-makers and business partners.
Working closely with the Area Director of Sales, Revenue, Conference & Events, Reservations and Operations teams, you will ensure sales strategies are aligned with hotel objectives and that new business is converted into exceptional guest experiences and sustainable revenue.
This role is ideal for a commercially focused sales professional who enjoys being out in the market, building relationships, identifying opportunities and taking ownership of business development results across two leading Adelaide hotels.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business development strategies to generate new revenue across Stamford Plaza Adelaide and Stamford Grand Adelaide.
- Identify, target and secure new business opportunities across corporate, government, conferences, events, group accommodation and leisure markets.
- Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key clients, decision-makers, corporate partners and industry stakeholders.
- Proactively manage and grow existing accounts, identifying opportunities to increase share of business and revenue.
- Develop and manage a strong sales pipeline, taking opportunities from initial prospecting through to conversion and ongoing account management.
- Conduct proactive sales calls, client meetings, presentations, networking activities, industry events and hotel site inspections.
- Prepare tailored proposals, quotations and commercial agreements designed to convert opportunities into confirmed business.
- Achieve individual revenue targets and sales KPIs, contributing to overall departmental budgets and commercial objectives.
- Maximise revenue opportunities across accommodation, conferences, meetings, events and food & beverage, including cross selling the combined offering of both hotels.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activity and customer needs to identify new markets, business opportunities and areas for growth.
- Work closely with Revenue, Conference & Events, Reservations and Operations to ensure opportunities are appropriately priced, converted and successfully delivered.
- Maintain accurate sales records and provide regular updates on sales activity, pipeline development, market opportunities and future business forecasts.
About you
You are an experienced and commercially driven sales professional who enjoys being in the market, developing relationships and achieving measurable business results.
You will bring:
- Previous experience in a Business Development Manager, Sales Manager, Account Manager or similar senior sales role.
- Previous experience in a hotel, hospitality, tourism or related sales environment is highly desirable.
- Proven experience generating new business and growing existing corporate accounts.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute business development strategies.
- Strong understanding of corporate, government, meetings, conferences, events and/or accommodation markets.
- Hospitality, hotel, tourism or conferencing experience is highly desirable.
- Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
- Strong commercial acumen and understanding of revenue generation.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation and influencing skills.
- Strong networking and relationship-building capabilities.
- High level of organisation with the ability to manage multiple priorities and a diverse client portfolio.
- Experience managing a sales pipeline and forecasting future business.
- Experience using Delphi and Opera is desirable.
- A proactive, self-motivated and results-oriented approach.
