About the Role
The Junior Accountant is responsible for supporting the Financial Controller in delivering accurate and timely financial records, with a primary focus on General Ledger integrity, Bank Reconciliations Management, General Cashier oversight, and the End-of-Month close process
Your key responsibilities:
- Maintain and reconcile General Ledger accounts
- Prepare and post journals for accruals, prepayments, and adjustments
- Manage the End-of-Month close process including balance sheet reconciliation, ledger review, and reporting packs
- Perform daily and monthly Bank Reconciliations, promptly identifying and resolving variances
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and ensure aged balances are investigated and resolved.
- Supervise cashiering activities including cash float management and reconciliation
- Coordinate and execute End Of Month tasks
- Internal Controls, maintaining proper controls and procedures and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
- Building and maintaining professional internal relationships
What you will bring to the role:
- • Proficiency with Opera Cloud, SunSystems accounting systems and Microsoft Excel
• Understanding of bank reconciliations, general ledger maintenance, and journal entry processes
• Familiarisation with cash handling practices, including oversight of General Cashier operations and petty cash reconciliation
• Exposure to end-of-month close processes, including accruals, prepayments, and preparation of financial schedules
• Development of analytical and organisational skills in a dynamic hotel finance environment
• Understanding of Australian accounting standards, internal controls, and statutory compliance relevant to the hospitality industry
• Practical insight into hotel finance operations, including cross-departmental financial coordination

Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 per annum
