The General Manager (Roving) provides strategic, commercial and operational support across one or more hotels within the Group, including interim General Manager coverage, special projects and performance improvement initiatives as required.
This role may require extensive interstate travel and the ability to spend extended periods away from home when business needs require it.

We are seeking a hands-on, energetic and commercially astute hotel leader who is highly visible in the operation, leads by example, builds strong stakeholder relationships and has the integrity and flexibility required to support hotels wherever the business requires.
Key Responsibilities
1. Commercial Leadership & Business Performance
- Drive sustainable growth in revenue, profitability and asset value across assigned hotel properties.
- Identify and implement opportunities to grow Rooms, Food & Beverage and ancillary revenue, improve efficiency, increase market share and strengthen profitability.
- Foster a strong commercial culture across hotel leadership teams, ensuring leaders understand the financial impact of operational decisions.
- Work closely with Revenue, Sales and Marketing teams to optimise pricing strategies, business mix, distribution channels and market positioning.
- Ensure effective cost management while maintaining service standards and guest satisfaction.
- Hold hotel leadership teams accountable for achieving agreed financial and operational objectives.
2. Operational Leadership
- Lead the overall operational performance of assigned hotels and ensure alignment with Group objectives and brand positioning.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across Rooms, Food & Beverage and support departments.
- Review hotel products, services, offerings and organisational structures to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain a highly visible presence in hotel operations and engage regularly with guests, employees, department heads and key stakeholders.
- Promote best practice sharing across properties and support consistent implementation of standard operating procedures.
3. Guest Experience
- Champion a guest-centric culture throughout all areas of the business.
- Lead service excellence initiatives across all operational departments.
- Ensure guest feedback is actively reviewed and used to drive continuous improvement.
- Empower department heads and front-line teams to deliver memorable guest experiences.
4. Stakeholder, Supplier & Partner Management
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including hotel leadership teams, corporate departments, suppliers, contractors, business partners and key clients.
- Influence and engage stakeholders to achieve Group objectives and drive accountability.
- Maximise the effectiveness of suppliers, vendors and contractors through clear expectations, performance management and commercial accountability.
- Negotiate and manage commercial arrangements to ensure the best outcome for the Group.
5. Marketing Performance & Effectiveness
- Review and approve marketing strategies, innovations and campaigns to maximise market reach and return on investment.
- Work collaboratively with Sales and Marketing teams to support occupancy growth and Food & Beverage performance.
- Monitor campaign effectiveness and ensure marketing spend delivers measurable commercial outcomes.
6. Compliance, Risk & Governance
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, corporate governance requirements and the Code of Conduct.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, standards and industry codes, with particular emphasis on health, safety and liquor compliance.
- Promote strong risk management practices across all assigned properties.
- Lead operational reviews, investigations, audits and corrective action plans where required.
- Demonstrate the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and ethical conduct at all times.
7. Leadership & Team Development
- Lead by example and foster a culture of accountability, ownership, collaboration and continuous improvement.
- Coach, mentor and guide hotel management teams to strengthen their operational and commercial capability.
- Support workforce planning, succession planning and staff development initiatives.
- Promote a positive work environment that values teamwork, diversity, inclusion and recognition.
8. Special Projects, GM Coverage & Travel
- Undertake projects, reviews and strategic initiatives as directed by the Vice President of Operations or Chief Operating Officer.
- Provide General Manager coverage during annual leave, extended leave, vacancies, leadership transitions or operational challenges.
- Assume responsibility for the day-to-day leadership and management of assigned properties during temporary appointments.
- Support hotels undergoing change, performance improvement initiatives, refurbishment projects or business transformation programs.
- Maintain flexibility in working hours to support special events, business needs and operational requirements outside standard office hours.

- Lead from the front, get involved in the operation and support teams where needed.
