About the role
Reporting to the Area Financial Controller, you will be responsible for supporting the hotel’s financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely reporting. You’ll work closely with operational departments, gaining strong exposure to hotel finance and commercial decision-making.
Key responsibilities
- Perform daily and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Perform internal audit / control checks weekly on selected areas of the hotel.
- Perform daily Opera imports into SUN
- Review management dockets, rebates & miscellaneous vouchers
- Record all outstanding purchase orders and invoices not processed, at month end for accrual purposes
- Assist in accurately invoicing customers for goods and services provided by the Hotel, ensuring the integrity of the billing process.
- Assist in ensuring payments are collected on a timely basis before outstanding accounts become a bad debt.
- Assist in controlling the payment of accounts for goods and services purchased by the Hotel
- Assist in ensuring all hotel takings are accounted for, reconciled with system revenue and deposited to the bank on a timely manner.
- Assist in handling all cash control related tasks and conduct random internal and income audit.
- Review current contracts in place, to ensure documents are up to date and correct charges are being expensed
- Maintain the contracts register on a monthly basis
- Ensure end of month reports are completed and submitted as per guidelines
- Assist with end of month journals, including but not limited to payroll journals and prepayments
- Assist with creating and maintaining monthly and annual budget templates for accuracy
- Undertake other administrative duties as directed
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Previous experience in hotel or hospitality accounting (highly regarded)
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, and month-end processes
- Confident working in a fast-paced, operational environment with competing priorities
- High level of attention to detail and accuracy, with strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- Proactive, organised, and able to work autonomously while being a strong team contributor
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills and experience with accounting systems (hotel systems highly desirable)
- A positive, professional attitude with a commitment to confidentiality and integrity
