Stamford Plaza Melbourne is a five-star hotel located at the 'Paris end' of Little Collins Street in the heart of the shopping & theatre district.

Reporting directly to the Director of Sales and Marketing, this role is responsible for generating rooms sales, conferences and events and incentive business for our hotel and the wider Company Group portfolio. The ideal candidate for this role is a passionate and enthusiastic individual looking for the next step up in their career.  

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to

  • To source and establish new accounts
  • Proactively maintain and service all current accounts
  • To increase occupancy and average room rate of the hotel by active selling and account servicing
  • To sell the hotel as a total concept ensuring maximum business in all areas: rooms, conferences and food and beverage
  • Organise and conduct hotel familiarisations and entertaining where necessary
  • Determine, in discussion with the Director of Sales & Marketing, events to be sponsored and organise representation at these events  

The ideal candidate will be:  

  • Passionate about Sales and looking for the next step up in their career 
  • Extensive experience in all aspects of the conference and events industry
  • A track record of increasing sales and building business
  • Exemplary personal presentation skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet deadlines       
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Passion for hospitality service excellence, with an eye for detail towards delivering an unrivalled customer service experience

To successfully fill this role, you should demonstrate:

We seek a person with strong commercial acumen, coupled with experience in working with a team to achieve results and drive topline across key business segments. The successful candidate should have 3+ years’ experience as a senior Sales professional in a hotel environment and hold Vocational education in Hotel Management, Sales and Marketing or similar.

  • Excellent personal presentation with highly developed communication skills.
  • Cultivation of an engaged team environment to drive collective success.
  • Demonstrate experience in hotel and tourism environment and the ability to convert inquiries into sales.
  • Exercise a high level organisational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated passion and ability in exceeding sales targets and KPIs.
  • Develop and maintain industry relationships to drive new business opportunities.
  • Ability to drive and motivate the sales team to achieve individual and overall business targets.
  • Experience with Delphi and Opera Cloud an advantage.
