Demi Chef (Maternity Leave Cover)

Stamford Plaza Melbourne is seeking an energetic Demi Chef to join our passionate kitchen team on a Fixed Term - Full Time basis.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Preparing food items by following standardized recipes to deliver consistent quality dishes
• Support the Executive Chef in the daily operations
• Make adjustments to food items to accommodate guests dietary requirements
• Ensuring ‘mise en place’ is ready prior to service delivery
• Complying with control procedures for food production, portion control and stock management
• Rotating through each kitchen of the hotel in order to develop a broad range of skills and work with a variety of talented chefs
• Following hotel procedures in regards to preparation and pack down of kitchen areas
• Ensuring kitchen work area is hygienic, clean & well presented

The ideal candidate will be:

• Proactive, energetic and shares a passion for the hospitality industry
• Trade qualification in commercial cookery 
• Demonstrated experience working in a 4 or 5 star hotel (desirable)
• Previous experience with a la carte service 
• Previous experience in a busy commercial kitchen
• Flexible to work on a rotating roster which includes weekends and public holidays
• Possess effective communication skills
• Organised, innovative and committed to the kitchen
• Can work in a high pressure, fast paced environment
