Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport is currently recruiting a dynamic and motivated full-time Banquets Operations Manager.

 

The Role

We are currently seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated and passionate Full-Time Banquets Operations Manager to join our dynamic Food & Beverage team at Stamford Plaza Sydney Airport.

As an integral member of the Food & Beverage leadership team, this role will be responsible for the strategic direction and leading the successful operations of the Conference & Events team. 

This role is suited to a person with a can-do attitude, a keen eye for detail, and an ability to lead, develop, and motivate a large team. Experience in a similar management role in operations is preferred, while a love for hospitality and a passion for providing excellent service to our guests is a must! The successful candidate will be available to work flexible shifts, including weekends. The Ideal candidate will possess a charismatic and charming personality and will be a natural communicator with the ability to develop strong relationships with clients and event organisers. 

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day banquet operations, plan and assign work and establish performance and development goals for team members.
  • Projects supply needs for the department (e.g. tables and chairs, banquet tables, meeting set-up and props)
  • Manages departmental inventories and maintains equipment
  • Acts as liaison to the kitchen, events planning and sales staff
  • Manages all setup and coordination on the Banquets floor
  • Lead, mentor and train the Banquets team, ensuring a fun and energetic working environment.
  • Understands the impact of Banquet operations on the overall success of an event and manages activities to maximise customer satisfaction
  • Ensure that team members are briefed on daily banquet operations, including break timings, room sets and refreshes, etc.
  • Actively participate in improving the service standards and offerings to ensure repeat client business and increase growth.
  • Adheres to and reinforces all standards, policies and procedures
  • Provide input on occupational health and safety requirements/reporting. This also includes HACCP procedures and documentation.
  • Ensure that strategies are in place to allow efficient and effective department staffing and to achieve service quality and financial targets.
  • Have a "can do" attitude and consistently strive to exceed client expectations.              

 

What are we looking for?

  • Experience working in fast-paced, high-volume C&E operations
  • Hands-on leadership style
  • Committed to succession planning and developing the outlet
  • Demonstrated experience in coaching, mentoring and leading a team of restaurant and bar staff
  • Thrives under pressure and is well-organised
  • Has guest-centric outlook and a creative mindset to ensure our guests are well looked after
  • Is flexible to work mornings, evenings, weekends and public holidays
  • At least one year of experience in a team leader or supervisory role
  • Knowledge of POS system
  • Experience in a 4 to 5-star Hotel or similar environment
  • A current RSA and full working rights are essential
  • Knowledge of AV equipment and being generally IT savvy would be advantageous to support the AV team
  • Experience in Banquet operations and revenue posting systems will be highly advantageous.
