Stamford Plaza, one of Brisbane's finest five star hotels is now searching for a highly skilled and passionate Financial Controller to perform an integral management role overseeing all finance and accounting functions.

This rare opportunity encompasses the financial management of an iconic hotel coupled with the management of a highly skilled and dynamic team.

About you

To be successful in securing this unique leadership role you will be tertiary qualified and have extensive working knowledge of accounting procedures, with at least 5 years leading a Finance Team in hospitality or an equivalent environment. The role will require an exceptional level of communication, organisation, and attention to detail, along with problem-solving abilities.

In addition, you will have experience with Opera (Hotel Property Management System) and SunSystems accounting systems as well as proven proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Previous experience in the same or similar role is essential. 

The successful applicant will:

  • Effectively manage the financial reporting process and influence the overall hotel performance
  • Ensure the integrity and viability of business proposals, short and long term, and prioritise resources to optimise the divisional performance
  • Ensure the provision of strong governance controls
  • Be the commercial conscience of the Leadership Team and assist in transformational projects
  • Initiate and maintain effective control procedures to ensure all assets, liabilities, income, and expenses are accurately recorded
  • Preparation, review, and analysis of daily, weekly and end of period management reports
  • Compile and analyse financial information
  • Analyse and control expenditures of all departments to ensure compliance with budgetary requirements
  • Collaborate with each department head on the financial performance of their outlets
  • Completion of budgets and forecasts
  • Mentor and motivate Finance Team members
  • Ensure a continuous training program for all Finance staff
