About the role:

We are looking for someone who will hit the ground running to oversee the day to day financial management of the Hotel. This is a hands on role processing hotel accounts as well as supervising the quality of work performed by accounts payable and receivable, hotel accounts, the purchasing department and information technology. The ability to quickly adapt into the role is essential in order to keep the department operating at its optimum.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Financial Controller by providing timely, full and accurate forecasts
  • Provide timely and accurate financial statements
  • Ensure all financial regulations are met through the maintenance of adequate systems of internal control
  • Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of the budget
  • Assist the Financial Controller on overseeing the daily operation of IT, finance and purchasing
  • Review daily deposit reconciliation and cash postings, accounts payable and other disbursements, and approve all ledger account reconciliations
  • Prepare all other financial reports and analyses, all year-end reports and audit schedules
  • Attest to the accuracy of the General Ledger and maintain the books of accounts including preparing monthly reports
  • Ensure that Balance Sheet accounts are reconciled
  • Assist with internal audits of cash deposits, monitoring of the CAPEX budget and in the completion and implementation of all audit recommendations
  • Handle the administration of all bank accounts, ensures bank resolutions are updated, and prepare / review treasury (cash flow) reports
  • Oversight of fortnightly payroll processing

Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of three years previous experience as an Accountant or Assistant Financial Controller from a Hotel background
  • Strong financial and analytical skills in developing budgets and allocating appropriate resources to ensure a sustainable & profitable business
  • Timely resolution of any accounting or audit issues which may arise
  • Experience working with external stakeholders such as the ATO and banks
  • Accounting degree and CPA qualified
  • Proficient with Opera, Excel and Word
  • Exposure to SunSystems financial package would be an advantage
  • Excellent communication skills with guests, management and team members
  • Confident presentation skills of financial results and hotel performance to company executives
  • A confident working knowledge of Kronos timekeeping and ADP payroll systems
